Empowered Singlehood: A therapeutic yoga retreat to empower women and foster healthy independence in and outside of relationships with Dezryelle Arcieri and Bree Jenkins
In Santa Margarita, San Luis Obispo County, Central Coast California
The Sanskrit definition of ‘Yoga’ is ‘union’ and ‘connection’ which sets the perfect tone for this intimate event, designed specifically for women who are seeking a deeper connection to their inner power and independence. Unlike your typical yoga retreat, this one is led by two Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists who seek to explore the yoga of relationships through conscious movement and skilled processing.
Together, with their combined expertise as a certified yoga teacher, and dating coach, they will examine various forms of relationships women maintain, teach healthy boundary skills, guide attendees through thought provoking and dynamic exercises to deepen their connection to self and their relationships, and to build confidence and gain real life skills that affect relationships.
Each day will include yoga and meditation, therapeutic interventions and workshops, process groups including experiential exercises, such as writing assignments, role playing, and goal setting, as well as free time to enjoy the beautiful grounds (i.e. hiking, swimming, napping, lounging).
Some topics you can expect to be covered during the event:
Present Moment Awareness
Honoring Personal Values
Freedom for Space and Personal Development
Embodied Self-Care
Communicating Truth and Authenticity
Empowered Vulnerability
Cultural Conditioning in Relationships
Surrendering Ego
Cultivating Community
FAQs:
I am NOT single, but I want to explore my independence as an individual. Is this retreat for me?
Yes! You do not need to be single to attend this retreat. This retreat is for any woman that wants to explore independence and differentiation from relationships. You may be single or in any other type of relationship.
What Does ‘Singlehood’ mean?
Singlehood is a term we created to address differentiation in relationships. It is a term we use to describe the unique part of every individual. Singlehood is our way of looking at your unique qualities, your partner’s unique qualities, and how you can honor value these to deepen relationships.
The goal of Singlehood is to empower you to have a strong sense of self and to use this as a guide in navigating your relationship with your partner(s).
What kind of activities should I expect?
Each full day will include morning and evening yoga, 2 therapeutic workshops to process relationships, and 1 process group to assist with integration of the material, as well as free time to enjoy the saltwater pool, nap, read, hike, and other self-care.
Is the retreat co-ed?
No, I am sorry. This retreat is only for women 18 and over.
I am not sure I will fit in. What kind of women will attend this retreat?:
We are very proud to offer an inclusive and accessible retreat. You can expect that the women present at the retreat will include a wide variety of ages, racial backgrounds, occupations, life stages and transitions, and types of relationships. Our hope is that you will feel deeply connected among the group’s similarities and difference, as we are all attending and participating in the retreat for the same common purpose.
I am new to yoga or have never tried yoga. Can I still attend?
Yes! No yoga experience is required. The yoga at this retreat will be accessible for all bodies and all skill levels.
What kind of yoga will we practice during the retreat?
Yoga is offered both in the morning and in the evening. The morning yoga is more of an invigorating flow with a vinyasa style designed to help you wake up the mind and body and the evening yoga is a more relaxing and restorative practice with a yin style to help you prepare for deep sleep.
All of the yoga offered is therapeutic in nature and trauma-informed. Unlike some classes you may find in a typical yoga studio, this yoga is really meant to help you manage distress and calm the central nervous system so that you can be more fully present and receptive of the therapeutic process.
